Designer Genes And The DNA To Make Them

Forbes “recently heard fascinating and synergistic “innovation stories” from the CEOs of two biotech companies.  One organization, Arzeda, uses computers to design genes for enzymes and pathways involving multiple enzymes.  The other, Gen9, specializes in making long strands of DNA very efficiently and accurately – in this case the DNA that codes for those “designer genes.”  At last week’s BIO World Congress on Industrial Biotechnology, these two companies announced a partnership that exemplifies the astonishing progress that has been made in the field called “synthetic biology.””
